Bury Council's Town Centres Team aims to improve business engagement and support, acting as facilitators to establish and support local business groups in each of our town centres.
The Team actively promotes the independent businesses and towns as a whole driving footfall into the centres by organising key events such as Ramsbottom Chocolate Festival, Specialist Christmas Events and Halloween Festival to name but a few. The aim of the Team is to keep each township thriving in this economic climate by creating a healthy place to live, work and play in the Borough of Bury and by keeping our high streets thriving.
Throughout the borough there are currently five established business groups established which are:
- Ramsbottom Business Group;
- Radcliffe Business Group;
- Prestwich Business Group (Local in Prestwich);
- Whitefield Business Group; and
- Tottington Business Club.
The groups meet regularly on a quarterly basis to update businesses on current issues and activity. These include parking, policing, promotions/events, campaigns etc., together with providing networking opportunities.
Key aims of the business groups:
- to promote and support the needs of local businesses and improve the business environment in our town centres;
- to provide the opportunity for the business community to speak with one voice improving communication with the Council and other organisations and agencies;
- improving opportunities to raise the profile of town centre business through co-ordinated marketing and promotional initiatives including special events to increase footfall in each town centre; and
- identify and pursue key issues affecting businesses.
