Council housing

Strategic Housing works in partnership with Six Town Housing, the Arms Length Management Organisation (ALMO) which was formed in April 2005 to manage Council homes on behalf of Bury Council.

 Strategic Housing is responsible for:

  • Setting rent levels within Government guidelines
  • Housing Strategy
  • Lettings policy
  • Housing Advice
  • Homelessness
  • Monitoring the performance of Six Town Housing
  • Affordable Housing
  • Government's Mortgage Rescue Scheme

 Six Town Housing is responsible for:

  • Rent collection and arrears recovery, including welfare benefits advice;
  • Tenant and resident involvement;
  • Dealing with anti social behaviour;
  • Estate management and caretaking;
  • Leaseholder and Right to Buy services;
  • Responsive repairs;
  • Planned and capital improvement schemes.
