Children and young people
Children's Services is the department of Bury Council which is responsible for coordinating services for children, young people and families. We provide a huge range of services from universal services (such as schools) to targeted services (such as Children's Centres) and specialist services (such as children's social care services).

One of Bury Council's highest priorities is to ensure that all children and young people achieve success in learning. These pages aim to provide easy access to key Bury educational and learning information.
Bury Safeguarding Children Board ensures that agencies are protecting children from harm and safeguarding their well-being. Bury Safeguarding Children Board (BSCB) is the forum for agreeing how services, agencies, organisations and the community safeguard children and improve their wellbeing.
Bury Council Fostering and Adoption services pages give you all the information you need to foster or adopt with Bury Council, from the basic difference between fostering and adoption to the reasons why children come into care. Bury Children's Services are required under the Children Act 1989 to provide a service to help families with "children in need" in their area. Children in need are those with a disability and children whose health and welfare may suffer significantly without support from children's social care services.
The aim of Bury Children's trust is to promote cooperation between partner organisations to improve children's well-being.
Children's Centres in Bury support children, parents, carers and childcare providers to help ensure that Bury children are given the best opportunities at their most crucial time for development during the first 5 years of their lives.
The Youth Service in Bury works to promote the personal and social development of young people between the ages of 11 and 19 and up to 25 years for those young people with additional needs to enable them to fulfil their potential as empowered members of society.
Bury Connexions is the impartial information, advice, guidance and support service for all young people aged between 13 and 19, and up to 25 for those young people with learning difficulties or disabilities.
