The council has to make significant savings to the budget and we are currently reviewing a number of services as well as consulting on a range of savings proposals for 2013/14 and 2014/15.
The Plan for Change explains what we need to do, the vision, the values and the outcomes we want to achieve to help us achieve savings and make sure the council focuses on priorities. Throughout this process we have made a commitment to consult, listen and engage.
Have Your Say on the Draft Programme of Savings 2013/14 to 2014/15
The original Plan for Change Programme of Savings approved by Full Council in February 2012 had an identified savings of £9m for 2013/14 to 2014/15 (£3.9m in 2013/14 and £5.1m in 2014/15).
Due to recent announcements from central government we have had to revise these forecasts and expect we will require an addition almost £9m over the next 2 years.
We have updated the Programme of Savings with a series of additional savings proposals, which we are currently consulting on until 10 January 2013.
You can find out more information about these proposals in the Draft Programme of Savings 2013/14 to 2014/15 document.
You can also have your say and take part in the consultation by completing our online survey.
In addition you can email any comments or feedback on the proposals to email@example.com or by writing to Plan for Change, Policy and Improvement Team, Bury Council, Town Hall, Knowsley Street, Bury, BL9 0SW. Please ensure that all comments reach us by the closing date of 10 January 2013.
