Adult Care Services is the department of Bury Council which is responsible for overseeing social care services for adults and older people in the borough. Children's Services is the department of Bury Council which is responsible for overseeing social care services for children and young people in the borough.

Bury Children's Services are required under the Children Act 1989 to provide a service to help families with "children in need" in their area. Children in need are those with a disability and children whose health and welfare may suffer significantly without support from children's social care services.
Bury Safeguarding Children Board ensures that agencies are protecting children from harm and safeguarding their well-being. Bury Safeguarding Children Board (BSCB) is the forum for agreeing how services, agencies, organisations and the community safeguard children and improve their wellbeing.
