The Bury Town Centre Evening and Night Time Economy strategy was approved in March 2016, and updated in October 2017.

The Strategy and Action Plan aims to continue the partnership working that has seen Bury Town Centre achieve Purple Flag status in 2015, 2016 and again in 2017. Purple Flag is an award scheme for town and city centres, similar to Blue Flag awards for beaches, which not only recognises the excellence in the way Bury Town Centre's evening and night time economy is managed, but also that the centre offers an entertaining, diverse, safe and enjoyable night out. Bury is the first and only town centre in Greater Manchester to achieve this award.

The Strategy will build upon the existing strengths of Bury town centre as a destination for retail, food, culture and entertainment whilst further developing and enhancing the night time economy offer. Working with our partners, we want to ensure that those visiting Bury Town centre can enjoy a safe, secure, healthy and risk free environment.
