Bury Venues' terms and conditions

  1. Hire charges are reviewed 1 January every year and consequently where a hire charge has been estimated in an agreement, will be subject to alteration
  2. Periods of hire must include any requirement by Hirers, Entertainers, Bands Caterers etc time for setup and vacating the premises. All occupation of the premises in excess of the stated hire period will be subject to additional charges for each hour or part thereof.
  3. Times of Public Entertainment and Bar opening and closing times are restricted to Licenses held. (The Management will advise you on this subject.)
  4. All extension to Permitted Hours and Occasional Licenses will be charged at the rate applicable at time of issue.
  5. Kosher functions - All Caterers and Bar Services must be approved by the Manchester Beth Din. The caterer must be registered with the local Environmental Health Office. A £100 refundable deposit is required to ensure that caterers leave the premises, particularly the kitchens, in a clean and tidy state.
  6. Asian and other Cultural Catering - The Caterer must be registered with the local Environmental Health Office. A £100 refundable deposit is required to ensure that caterers leave the premises, particularly the kitchens, in a clean and tidy state. 
  7. For certain events (18th/21st celebrations, dances, band nights, public meetings, etc) it may be considered necessary by the Management, to employ Front of House Supervision which will be charged at the applicable rate at the time of the function. 
  8. Weekend Hire Charges apply to all Bank Holidays
  9. All facilities are closed on Christmas Day and Good Friday.
  10. A Commercial Booking is defined as a non-social, profit-making venture for any individual or organisation not registered as a charity. 
  11. A Semi-Commercial Booking is defined as a non-social, profit making venture for any individual or organisation registered as a charity (proof of charitable status will be required).  
  12. Events that are for the purpose of fundraising or other commercial activities will not receive a reduction in room hire charges.
  13. Advance bookings will only be taken up to three years in advance.
  14. It is expected that the Hirer will be present throughout the function.
  15. The Hirer shall maintain good order at all times during the function. Should the Hirer or their guests cause any damage to the exterior or interior fixtures and fittings of the building, they will be liable and a charge will be levied to cover the cost of repairs. 
  16. Self-catering is only allowed at Ramsbottom Civic Hall. Bury Council has sole catering rights at other venues.
  17. Deposits - a non-refundable deposit of £250 is required for all weddings and other catered events. All other functions will be subject to a deposit of £50 or 10% of the estimated invoice amount whichever is the greater.
  18. Interim Payments - in addition to the deposit an interim payment of £250 or 50% of the estimated invoice amount, whichever is the greater, is required 28 days before the event. 
  19. Full payment must be made 7 days prior to the event.
  20. Cancellation Charges - if you cancel your event you will be subject to the following charges.
    • 12 weeks prior to the event deposit only
    • 6 to 12 weeks prior - 25% of booking value
    • 4 to 6 weeks prior - 50% of booking value
    • 2 to 4 weeks prior - 75% of booking value
    • Less than 2 weeks prior - 100% of booking value
  21. Final numbers must be confirmed to the manager 7 days prior to the event
