The Government introduced the Redress Schemes for Letting Agency Work and Property Management Work (Requirement to belong to a scheme) (England) Order 2014.

This legislation requires all letting agents to join an approved Government scheme.

As part of the legislation, the Government instructed local authorities to enforce this by issuing penalties to those companies who fail to comply with the legislation.

The Government considers a £5,000 fine or penalty for non-compliance a reasonable sum to be levied against those who fail to comply.

To ensure local authorities also comply with the legislation, we've reviewed all agents who operate in the Bury borough and will send Notice of Intent letters as appropriate.
