The Council's Strategic Housing Unit work in partnership with Six Town Housing, the Arms Length Management Organisation (ALMO) which was formed in April 2005 to manage Council homes on behalf of Bury Council.
The Council's Strategic Housing Unit is responsible for:

- Housing Strategy
- Lettings policy
- Housing Advice
- Homelessness
- Monitoring the performance of Six Town Housing
Six Town Housing is responsible for:
- Rent collection and arrears recovery, including welfare benefits advice;
- Tenant and resident involvement;
- Dealing with anti social behaviour;
- Estate management and caretaking;
- Leaseholder and Right to Buy services;
- Responsive repairs;
- Planned and capital improvement schemes.
