What is the rights of way improvement plan?
The rights of way improvement plan is our action plan to help improve, maintain and provide Public Rights of Way.
The plan has been produced to meet the requirements of the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000 (CROW). The law requires us to prepare a plan which considers local rights of way in relation to the following.
- The present and likely future needs of the public.
- Opportunities for exercise and other forms of open air recreation.
- Accessibility to blind or partially sighted people and those with mobility problems.
After consulting with user groups, representatives of the farming community, the Local Access Forum and the general public, the plan was published on 1 December 2007.
