Training for children
The Road Safety Unit offers cycle training to all schools in the borough for children aged 10 and over who have a roadworthy bike and helmet.
Training is offered during the normal school terms and is run over four half-days either morning or afternoon.
The training is on-road, and complies with the content required for the National Syllabus - Level 2 and is designed to increase confidence and enhance skills to enable pupils to use the roads more safely.
Training is also offered to children over 10 outside school hours on a one-to-one or one-to-two basis to National Standards 1 and 2 in line with schools training. Nominal fees are charged for child training.
Training for adults
We are able to offer individual refresher/confidence-raising sessions aimed at adults who wish to ride their cycle for transport (home to work - work to home) or leisure purposes.
The sessions are to the National Standard at levels 1, 2 and 3. They are delivered by nationally accredited cycle trainers by appointment. To seek further information about availability and cost (nominal) please contact us.
