Blue car badge scheme of parking concessions for disabled and blind people.
The Blue car badge scheme is a European scheme that provides parking concessions to disabled people who are assessed as meeting the criteria of the scheme.
Who qualifies?
You will automatically qualify for the issue of a badge if you meet any of the following criteria:
- Are registered blind with the Local Authority under the National Assistance Act 1948
- Receive Disability Living Allowance, Mobility component at the higher rate for help with getting around
- Receive war pensions mobility supplement
If you do not meet the above criteria but you have a permanent and substantial disability, which causes inability to walk or very considerable difficulty in walking, then you may still be eligible. A medical examination or medical report from your General Practitioner will usually be sought if you apply under this criterion.
