Victim support

Victims of crime often feel vulnerable when subject to crime and can feel isolated if not supported adequatley to deal with the crime and its effect. For those victims and also witnesses to the criminal incident, help and support is provided through local and national agencies. One of the agencies established locally is called the Victim Support and Witness Service.
 
The Victim Support and Witness Service aims to provide support and advice to all victims and witnesses of crime. The Bury Metropolitan Branch supports anyone who is a victim of crime living in the Borough of Bury, (there are other Branches operating in different areas througout the Country). In addition, the Vicitim Support and Witness Service supports and assists witnesses in the Magistrates Court, the Youth Courts and Bolton Crown Court. This support is also available to friends and family who attend Court with the witnesses.
 
Victim Support offers a free and confidential service to victims of crime and are independent of the Police and Courts
 
 
The Witness Service is part of Victim Support and helps witnesses and their family and friends when attending any of the Criminal Courts in England and Wales. The Witness Service helps witnesses in providing evidence to support the prosecution.
