Anti-social behaviour
Anti-Social Behaviour causes misery to people of all ages and can affect whole communities. The BurySafe Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership (CDRP) is committed to stamping out anti-social behaviour from your neighbourhood but we need your help to collect evidence. Don't suffer in silence.
What is anti-social behaviour?
The Crime and Disorder Act 1998 defines anti-social behaviour as acting in a way that causes or is likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress to one or more people who are not in the same household as the perpetrator.
What types of behaviour does it include?
- Assault
- Criminal damage
- Dealing and using drugs
- Graffiti
- Harassment
- Hate crime
- Neighbours who are unacceptably noisy
- Public disorder
- Threatening behaviour
- Vandalism
- Vehicle crime
- Verbal abuse
- Youth nuisance

Living together - community rights and responsibilities
Everyone has the right to enjoy life in their homes and communities including children who play in the street and teenagers meeting with friends. It is when someone's behaviour infringes on the peace, security and freedom of others that it is considered anti-social and dealt with as such.
What can we do about it?
The Community Safety Team and our partners, including the Police, Youth Offending Team, Six Town Housing and Environmental Services, have extensive preventative, interventional and enforcement measures and powers available to tackle the causes and effects of anti-social behaviour.
However we recognise that real success can only be achieved through the participation and support of the local community.
If you are a witness to or victim of anti-social behaviour please report it!
