About Bury Sports Development team

Bury Sports Development team is rated as one of the best in England by the country-wide quality scheme for sport and leisure, 'Quest'.  Quest is the national standard in continuous improvement for sport and leisure service providers and the team first achieved the award in 2004.  Reassessment takes place every two years.

Bury Sports Development team can give you advice on:

  • where you can take part in a particular activity;
  • local sports clubs and community groups;
  • how to start your own sports club;
  • funding opportunities; and
  • development opportunities such as coaching and volunteering.

The team's main themes

Between 2009 and 2013 the Sports Development Team will focus its efforts on five main themes which are:

  1. be active (better coaches and better volunteers);
  2. be active (better clubs);
  3. be active (physical activity pathways);
  4. be active (communities); 
  5. be proactive (planning for performance).

For each of these main themes key priorites are being established.
