Providing community sport and physical activity programmes

Bury Sports Development works closely with community groups, other agencies and through the Local Area Partnerships, to deliver sport and physical activity programmes in priority areas and with targeted groups.

Providing community sport helps towards our aim to create a healthier more active Bury.

What are priority areas?

Our priority areas are those where the population is least physically active, where there are the least community facilities and where there is the lowest level of sports club membership.

What are target groups?

Target groups are those sections of the community that are generally less active than the population as a whole.  These include women and girls, people living in the most deprived areas, older people, people of black and minority ethnic groups and people with disabilities.
