Gardening

The Whitehead Park gardening club was first established by the Park Ranger in 2004. It is a small club, but not exclusive and other volunteers wishing to come along and join in are most welcome. No previous gardening knowledge is required, just a willingness to learn and enjoy being outdoors whilst creating something for all to enjoy.
Work includes carrying out a range of jobs aimed at giving people without their own garden the opportunity to garden in their local park within a friendly and sociable atmosphere. Club members help with landscaping ideas and planting, learn about gardening on a large scale and over a period of time gain satisfaction from a sense of ownership of what has been achieved. The Club is currently aiming to establish a small greenhouse. Hopefully this year will see the club having a small poly greenhouse.
How to get involved
The club meets alternate Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11am until 1pm. The club is flexible and other times could be accomodated if there was sufficient interest.
