About the ranger-led walks
Our guided walk programme consists of short organised walks that are guided by our rangers as qualified walk leaders. They can help improve both physical and mental health by offering a safe and sociable atmosphere in which to walk around the local area.
Walking is a good form of exercise because:
- Walking helps burn off those extra pounds of body fat.
- Walking 1 mile burns off as many calories as jogging 1 mile, it just takes longer.
- Walking can lower blood pressure and cholesterol.
- Walking can help relieve stress.
- Walking strengthens the muscles in your hips and torso and improves posture.
All the walks are free! Just turn up 10 minutes before the scheduled start.
To find out when the next walk is go to Bury's What's On Guide and select 'Walking and tours' from the drop down menu.
