Bury has 14 urban parks, 2 countryside parks, just under 60 equipped play areas and many formal and informal gardens and open spaces, offering a wide range of attractions and facilities such as crown green bowling and provision of football pitches.
The Parks and Countryside service is responsible for the grounds maintenance of parks, recreation grounds, highway verges and other public open space as well as the Borough's cemeteries, allotments and arboricultural work.
Green Flag accreditation has been achieved for the following parks.

The Parks and Countryside service is committed to retaining this accreditation and gaining further Green Flag status for other parks within the Borough.
The service aims to:
- improve the quality of parks and open spaces;
- increase community use of parks;
- encourage community involvement in planning and managing parks and parks' facilities;
- understand the needs of users through consultation;
- address issues of public safety and concern in relation to parks;
- increase public awareness of the value of parks; and
- seek support for development and maintenance through external funding opportunities.
