Information for jobseekers

Finding Job Adverts

Finding information about the availability of jobs can be a difficult process. Apart from the more traditional sources of job adverts, newspapers and magazines, many posts are now advertised on the Internet. To view a list of links of useful web sites for job hunters please see our Job adverts on the Internet page.

Nextstep (careers advice) sessions are held in Bury library Mondays 1.30p.m. to 4.00p.m. and Thursday 9.30a.m to 12 noon. Please telephone Nextstep directly on 07791 017807 to arrange an appointment.

Got an interview?

The Business Information section is a great place to find out more about a particular company & really impress them at the interview. There are over 2.5 million companies listed on the FAME (Financial Analysis Made Easy) database, accessible in all libraries via the Internet. You can also search for Financial Times articles, via the CD-ROM network. Companies, local to Bury, may be covered by our local news cuttings service - ask the staff to check for you. Books on interview technique can be borrowed from the Lending Library (find them at 331.128).

Need a C.V.?

Books on how to write a CV and word processors are available in most of the libraries.
