The National Year of Reading is a year-long celebration of reading, in all its forms. It aims to increase awareness of the many values of reading – anything, anytime, anyplace – for children, families and adult learners alike.  Bury Libraries are participating in the National Year of Reading with a range of regular and one off activities and events in libraries and in the wider community with something for everyone, of any age, to enjoy.

Patrick Ness – The Knife of Never Letting Go

Saturday 29th November, 1pm in Bury Art Gallery

As part of the Big Science Read, Patrick Ness will be talking to Katherine Beacon, project manager BBC writersroom north, about his new book The Knife of Never Letting Go (Book One of the Trilogy Chaos Walking). The recent winner of this year’s Guardian Children’s Fiction Prize

Patrick will be talking and answering questions about this very exciting book set in a future world in which people and animals can hear each other's thoughts. If you enjoyed Phillip Pullman’s His Dark Materials series, you will love this. A real page turner for all readers. (Recommended age 13+)
