Bury Metro Libraries are committed to providing a service for all members of the community and to support this we provide books, information and audio visual items to reflect our multicultural borough. Currently the main alternative language provision is in Urdu but we can provide books in other languages on request.
At Bury Central Library and South Cross Street Community Library there are collections of books in Urdu for both adults and children. Books cover non-fiction topics ranging from health to cookery and travel to politics as well as offering a diverse range of fiction. All of our libraries carry a small Urdu language reference collection. A small collection of Urdu books is also available at Sedgley Park Community Library.
The best of Bollywood videos and DVD's are available at Bury Central Library and at South Cross Street.
At Prestwich Library there is a significant collection of Jewish books and audio visual items reflecting Jewish culture and history. In addition there are multimedia collections available from the library to support education about Jewish life and culture.
