Topping Fold Community Centre & Library

It took over two years and a great deal of hard work but Topping Fold Community Centre and Library is now open. This project not only saw the conversion of derelict shops into a thriving centre but also the realisation of a true community partnership in which local people worked with the Library Services and the Housing Department to make the project work.

In the Centre we can now offer a wide range of adult education and leisure courses from computer courses to flower arranging as well as advice and information sessions. There is also a flourishing youth group run by the Library. The library has computers for customers to use, free of charge, as well as a wide range of books and videos for all ages. Access to computers and the Internet is free of charge so booking in advance is advisable. Please telephone on the number below to make a booking.

As well as the Centre itself a government grant enabled the creation of a community garden, which saw five bramble ridden rubbish tips become one beautiful, fully accessible garden for the whole community to enjoy.

Meeting/Function rooms for hire

There are various sized meeting rooms available for hire within the Community and Library Centre – all are fully accessible and one is also equipped with an interactive whiteboard.  For further information and to book any of these rooms please contact – Stephanie Devine on 0161 253 7890

The people of Topping Fold estate and in particular the members of the Tenants and Residents Association have worked incredibly hard for many years to change their estate round and now we can all appreciate the difference. The Library Service's Social Inclusion Unit is based at Topping Fold.

A Council Information Point at your local library – bringing council services closer to home

As an extension to the services the library currently offers customers can  now make non-cash payments for all Council services which includes Council Tax, rent, car parking fines, dog fouling fines etc.  We can also take payments for all library charges such as - book fines, audio visual loan hire, computer print-outs etc.   Payments can be made during the times the library is open including the late evening openings and at weekends. Customers can also access other Council services by either using the Freephone situated in the library or by asking a member of staff in the library for help.  We offer a quality 'First Stop' customer enquiry/referral service by assisting with more Council and non-Council enquiries. We can also accept all completed Council forms or staff can help you with filling in these forms. We can also photocopy and verify any documentation needed in support of any applications which we can then forward to the appropriate Council Department on your behalf.

Customers can also now request a service at this library via the Customer Relationship Management system.  This means that you can arrange for bulky waste collection, request a new bin, report any problems with street lighting or the highways, make an appointment for a Pest Control Officer to visit etc.  All enquiries are recorded and sent electronically and customers are then given an individual reference number to refer back to if needed.
