Brandlesholme Community Library opened in 2004 following consultation with local people which showed a need for a local library. Local people are actively involved in the library and work with staff as volunteer library assistants. As a result of funding from the Big Lottery the library has been recently extended and refurbished to become Brandlesholme Community Centre and Library. Now open 6 days a week there's an extended library with 6 public access PCs, a community office, a training room with interactive whiteboard and a small kitchen.

As well as the traditional library services there's a council information point, advice and information services, and leisure and learning for all ages. The weekly group for craft enthusiasts, monthly young persons craft group, monthly reading group for adults and regular homework sessions continue to thrive.
One of the aims of the new community centre and library is to encourage people of all ages to get actively involved in their own community; this could mean organising events in and around the centre, helping in the centre or getting further training to assist a new or existing community group. If you are interested in volunteering please contact the centre.
