Modern Apprenticeship Training Scheme

Trying to decide on your future career?

Do you want to earn while you learn?

As a result of under-representation of young people in the Authority's workforce we have established trainee positions in different service areas, which will give young people, the start they need to progress into a professional career.

The placements will be offered to the successful candidates who are aged between 16 and 24 by 31 August each year.  The programme consists of on-the-job training whilst studying towards a recognised qualification.

The next recruitment will take place in April / May 2008.

Work Preparation Training Scheme

Work preparation for working in a clerical role

The scheme has been developed by Bury Council and is supported by Jobcentre Plus. It is designed to assist two identified groups who are not reflected in the workforce. The training scheme is aimed at the BME community (black minority ethnic) and people with a disability who may face barriers to securing employment.

The 26 week training programme is designed to ensure that trainees gain the qualifications, skills and experience to help them succeed in applying for clerical jobs with a variety of organisations. The scheme provides training only, it is not a job. There is no guarantee of a job at the end of the scheme, however, trainees will be given practical help to apply for jobs whilst on the scheme.
