What is Landlord Accreditation?
Bury Landlord Accreditation Scheme (BLAS) is a free service which has been set up to recognise and reward private landlords who manage and maintain their properties to a high standard. Standards for accredited properties are set out in the scheme’s Code of Practice.
What are the benefits for landlords?
By taking part in the scheme, landlords can access a number of free services including, advice and support, discounts on goods and services, marketing, Accreditation Grants (conditions apply), use of the scheme logo to advertise their properties and a landlord information pack which includes smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
What are the benefits for tenants?
Tenants will benefit from knowing that if they choose to rent from a member of the accreditation scheme, the property will be in good condition and the tenancy will be managed to a good standard.
How do I apply?
Joining BLAS is straightforward. You can obtain an application pack by contacting the Accreditation Co-ordinator on 0161 723 6448 or emailing burylas@greatplaces.org.uk or downloading one from our web site www.burylas.co.uk
What happens next?
Once we have received your completed application form, we will arrange for your property to be inspected.
It is important to let your tenants know why their home is being inspected and we have information leaflets specifically aimed at tenants to help you to do this.
If there are any repairs that you need to do to bring your property up to accreditation standard, we will let you know, giving a reasonable timescale during which the work should be done.
We will also need to see a copy of your most recent annual gas safety certificate and a copy of the tenancy agreement that you normally use.
On meeting the conditions of membership, you will be issued with a certificate for each property and your Landlord Information Pack. We will keep you updated on incentives, as well as providing you with a wide range of information and services tailored to your requirements.
How do I renew my membership?
Either by posting or faxing a copy of your current annual gas safety certificate for each accredited property to the address/fax number below. Your membership will automatically be renewed.
Remember to tell us if you have either made any major changes to, or sold any of your properties.
