How to express an interest

What is an expression of interest?

An expression of interest is your way of telling us that you are interested in a particular property. You can only express an interest in properties when they are advertised and you MUST be registered onto our waiting list. You only have to express an interest once for each property.

How do I express an interest?

1. To express an interest you will need to be registered on our Housing Register and will also need your housing registration number.

2. If you see an advert for a Bury Home Options property that you are interested in, you should express an interest.

3. You can express an interest in one of the following ways.

  • In person at any local Area Housing Office or Public Library
  • Telephone 0161 253 5251
  • E-mail  Interest-in-Homes@bury.gov.uk
  • Submit an online expression of interest form via our website
  • Write to The Access and Assessment Team, Room 24 The Town Hall, Knowsley Street, Bury BL9 OSW.

When should I express an interest?

Properties are advertised each Wednesday for one week. All expressions of interest must be received by no later than 5pm the following Tuesday.

What will happen to my expression of interest

All expressions of interest are checked once the closing date has passed. The successful applicant will be notified.

If you are made an offer of a property, we will not consider your expressions of interest for any other properties until you have let us know whether or not you want to accept the property offered.

Information and feedback about previously advertised properties is displayed in local Area Housing Offices, Public Libraries and on this website.
