Radcliffe Flooding

Following the recent flooding in Radcliffe, the following correspondence was received from a very grateful resident:

"You are no doubt aware of the recent problems experienced by my neighbourhood as a result of the severe flooding, caused in no small part, by the overspill from Elton Reservoir.

This letter is one of  thanks and gratitude for the efforts of a great many people who, most certainly stopped this serious situation from becoming much, much worse.

The Fire Brigade did a fantastic job, their professionalism and consideration for the residents was first class, however, there is another team of people that deserve special praise and thanks, the council workforce!

Numerous council employees from various departments attended the incident, some spent many hours "on site" over a number of days with little rest and few breaks. All these people worked tirelessly to ensure the residents were kept safe and informed and I would like you to pass on my sincere thanks and best wishes to everyone concerned.

There are two people in particular who I would like to single out; (names supplied).
In my opinion, these two individuals deserve extra recognition for their total commitment to their job and the plight of the residents. It was extremely reassuring to know that these people were around, making sure that everything possible was being done to ensure our safety and peace of mind. They really do care, you should be proud of them, I am."
