Workshops
Care Ambassadors - Janet Aspinall and Vanessa Knowles, Bolton Council Adult Services
Highlighting the model developed by Bolton, how they began and how it was developed to enable the sharing of good practice with other local authorities; what has been achieved and plans to progress the initiative into the future.
Aphasia - Cate Holland Stroke Association
Looking at what is Aphasia, using supported conversation to communicate effectively with people who have aphasia.
Infection control - Phil Broad, Trafford PCT
Trafford PCT takes a whole health economy approach to reducing Health Care Associated Infections. This workshop will provide an introduction to the topics covered in their training for care staff.
Assistive Technology - Lynn Dixon, Salford City Council
Exploring what is Assistive Technology, and how it can be used in the care setting to promote dignity with choice.
The importance of diet - Rob Mirow, Trafford Council Adults and Community Services & Social Care
Discussing the importance of nutrition and good diet as part of providing and promoting dignity in care.
Individual Budgets - John Fraine, Oldham
This session will be led by Bev Maybury, Head of Modernisation and John Fraine, Head of Workforce Development with Oldham Adult and Community Services. It will give an outline of Oldham's experience as an individualised budget pilot site, the lessons learned and the way forward for Oldham and social care in general.
