At Bury MBC we provide a high standard of Home Care Service, promoting and enabling service users independence and quality of life.
Provision of services
To assist with all daily living tasks including:
- personal care such as washing, bathing;
- assistance with rising and retiring;
- help with meal preparation;
- assistance with medication;
- assistance with shopping/ pension.
Eligibility criteria
Who is eligible?
The service provides care to all adults who live in the Bury area. The service is committed to provide care on individual assessment.
You may need help because of:
- a physical disability;
- a terminal illness;
- recovery from surgery or illness;
- a mental health problem.
How do you apply?
You will be assessed for the service if you contact the Enquiry Referral Officer at

The Enquiry Referral Officer will take your details including your next of kin if available. An officer will then visit you this first visit is called an Assesment. The aim of the assesment is to decide how we can assit to meet your needs. If you meet the criteria and it is decided that your needs can be met within your own home a care plan will be agreed with you. On the care plan the provider managers ,reviewing team and out of hours contact numbers will be written on.
How do we decide how much you will pay?
We will arrange to make an appointment for a Financial Assessor to visit you in your home. You are welcome to have a friend or relative present to help you if you wish.
The purpose of the visit is to:
- help you work out how much you will have to pay towards the cost of your service, both in terms of your income and expenditure relating to your personal circumstances;
- check to see if you are claiming all the benefits that you are entitled to and help you claim any you don’t already get.
