Adult Community Care - Principles and Aims
Community care services in Bury aim to provide the highest quality of care to suit your needs and to help you to maintain your independence. The providers of community care services in Bury share a number of beliefs, namely that individuals:
- have differing needs which may change considerably over time.
- should be involved in the decisions made about their lives.
- should be maintained in their own homes or community for as long as they wish.
- should live independent lives with dignity.
- and carers should be supported and their efforts complimented by caring organisations.
Under Community Care arrangements, Bury Adult Care Services assess the needs of people and arrange for the provision of adult social care services considered necessary to meet these needs.
Community Care Services may be made available to all of the following:
People over the age of 18 who are:
-
Elderly and in need of assistance, or who have:
-
Disabilities;
-
Mental health problems;
-
Drug or alcohol related problems;
-
are in need of residential accommodation.
Help is also available to those who care for someone who fall within one of the above categories.
Priority is given to people most at risk, particularly people who live alone and are vulnerable, and people who could not cope without support from others including their regular carers.
