Maintaining Independence and Quality of Life

Staff and carers at the Grundy Day Centre will always strive to ensure that all of our service users receive as much support and assistance as possible to help maintain independence and a quality of life

  • Aids and equipment to do this include, amongst others:
    • Alarm call system in all toilets and bathrooms
    • Grab rails in all toilet areas
    • Individual raised toilet seats
    • 1 Mobile Wispa hoist
    • 2 Mobile Molift Quickraisers
    • 1 Liko overhead hoist
    • 1 Parker tilting bath
    • 2 Aqua Nova spa baths
  • The continuation of rehabilitation programmes that have been devised and structured by physiotherapists, occupational therapist or speech therapists
  • Support with the administering or prompting of medication required at the centre to include secure storage and monitoring of any medication administered at the centre
  • A staff member to accompany you to Accident and Emergency Department at the local hospital in the event of an emergency whilst the agreed emergency contact is informed. (Please note that unfortunately we are unable to accompany you to hospital or medical appointments other than in the event of an emergency whilst at the centre)
  • Reviews held each year when service provision and details are discussed with the service user and whom ever they choose to be present at the review
  • A questionnaire every 6 months to express your satisfaction or complaints about your service provision
  • A personal Service User Plan which will be individually tailored to you needs
  • A named carer who while you are at the centre will:
    • Take a personal interest in your service provision
    • Discuss your service user plan with you on a regular basis or before any changes are made to it and ensure that the centre is kept up to date on your service provision needs
    • Be available to listen to you individually when you need to talk to someone
    • Be able to show you your individual personal file and answer any questions you may have about the centre or your service provision
  • A compliments and complaints procedure that includes
    • A compliments and complaints book at the centre
    • A compliments and complaints policy for Adult Care Services
    • Access to the Commission for Social Care Inspectorate complaints procedure

Confidentiality and data protection

All personal information held at the centre will only be shared on a need to know basis with your consent and your personal file will be kept in a secure file storage room. All computers holding your personal information will be guarded by passwords which are available to authorised staff only. All information personal to you will made available to you on your request. A private area in which to discuss confidential matters with staff or any visitor you have at the centre.

A safe and secure environment

The management of the centre will ensure that all required risk assessments, services and tests are carried out and reviewed on a regular basis to ensure the continued wellbeing and safety of our service users and staff.

Services delivered by a trained staff team

The management of the centre will ensure that all staff are trained to the level required by the General Care Standards and all staff will receive regular supervision to help maintain standards of service provision.
