In order to try to ensure the best quality of life possible for our service users the catering staff at the centre only use the best quality food available and prepare the food in our own kitchen in a manner which maintains its freshness and quality.

  • Vegetables are steamed to maintain their vitamins
  • Meat is bought fresh not frozen and cooked in our own kitchen
  • Desserts and cakes are prepared and cooked in our own kitchen
  • Sauces and gravies are prepared and cooked daily
  • Healthy options such as fruit and yogurts are available for dessert

Food is served onto the plate/dish and served immediately to the tables from the kitchen.

A choice of menu is available for lunch (main course and dessert), and a take home tea is also available (sandwich and fruit).

The centre is a non smoking facility but we recognise the right of choice for all service users and the centre therefore provides an area outside the centre where smoking is permitted. All toilet areas have motion activated extractor fans with automatic timed air freshening units and are checked by housekeeping staff every hour to ensure they are clean and hygienic.

Throughout the centre there are smoke and heat detectors along with emergency fire call points which are connected to a fire alarm system which when activated will automatically connect to a central monitoring service and the local fire brigade station.

The centre also has fire fighting equipment and a full emergency lighting system and every area has a close and easily accessed fire exit. The fire alarm system is activated on a check mode every week and the central monitoring service contacted for confirmation that the system is working accurately. All fire exits, fire fighting equipment and emergency lights are checked each week and smoke and heat detectors are checked every 6 months. All staff are trained in the fire procedure and undergo a fire test every 6 months.
