PHILOSOPHY OF CARE

Our Philosophy of Care is based on: -

  • Policies Procedures and Values of the Department which underpin the way in which we approach the delivery of care
  • A partnership with other Agencies and Carers to identify and recognise individual potential
  • A relaxed and welcoming atmosphere where independence and choice are encouraged and people feel valued
  • An environment which affords the service users the opportunity to share ideas and suggestions
  • The promotion of an environment which is stimulating, purposeful and enjoyable
  • A centre where a service users dignity is always upheld
  • A service delivery which is flexible and meets the needs of service users and their carers
  • A friendly atmosphere where staff and service users work together to achieve friendship and trust
  • A welcome for all our visitors offering hospitality, respect, privacy and confidentiality at all times
  • A service user’s cultural, religious and ethnic needs being recognised and met

The six core principles on which service delivery is based are:

Privacy

Grundy Day Centre supports the rights of individual service users to privacy in their delivery of care and within the context of a community environment.

Dignity

Grundy Day Centre recognises the need to respect the uniqueness of service users and their needs, to regard service users as individuals with desires, hopes and expectations and to treat all service users as we would wish to be treated.

Independence

Grundy Day Centre believes that delivery of care should help service users, whether able-bodied or with some disability, to retain or regain mobility and independence in their lives. We aim to do this through an imaginative approach to care delivery and activities that gives sufficient assistance without taking away skills, acceptable risks or disempowering service
users.

Choice

Grundy Day Centre aims to help service users to exercise choice and control over all aspects of service delivery at the centre.
We aim to maintain an ethos where service users feel confident to share experiences and ideas and express opinions.

Rights

Grundy Day Centre ensures service users’ rights are protected with access to the Authority’s complaints procedure and an advocate if needed.

Fulfilment

Grundy Day Centre actively encourages service users to realise personal aspirations where possible and ensures that, to the best of our ability, service users are stimulated to maintain or develop their full potential in all aspects of daily living skills.
