Carer Services Officers carry out Carers' Assessments. They provide practical and emotional support, advice and advocacy to carers. They can speak on the carer's behalf.
Who are Carers Service Officers?
Carer Services Officers are employed by Bury Metro Social Services Department. There is a worker available to each Area Office and the Mental Health Teams.
How will the Carer Service Officer help?
The Carer Services Officer will listen to you and discuss your situation with you.
The worker will then be able to suggest ways in which they think they can help. This could be with practical or emotional support, provision of information or speaking on your behalf.
How can I arrange to see a Carer Services Officer?
- A Social Worker may suggest and arrange this when we visit you to assess the person you are looking after, or
- You, or someone on your behalf, such as a friend, relative, doctor or nurse can contact your nearest Social Services Office to ask for a referral. It will be necessary for you to have a Carers Assessment to find out if this is the best way of offering assistance.
How much does it cost?
There is no charge for the Carer Services Officer's service
