BEATS Exercise Referral Scheme

What is the BEATS - Exercise Referral Scheme?

The BEATS scheme is set up to help people of Bury Metro with specific conditions. BEATS can be accessed via referral from a GP or Practice Nurse. The aim of the scheme is to improve people's mental and physical state through physical activity.

The project will provide a 50+ focus to the existing Exercise Referral Scheme (BEATS). An additional Exercise Referral Officer (ERO) will be appointed with money from Age of Opportunities and housed within a community setting. This Exercise Referral Officer will promote the service to community based networks used by older people, and provide 1-1 support for people aged 50+ with specific medical conditions, whose health would benefit from a 12 week personalised exercise programme.
