What is Age to Age Reading Lives?
This new project aims at making books relevant and exciting to older people and at providing new opportunities for learning, volunteering and extending social networks.
- READ AND FEED: new reading groups located in venues such as pubs and cafes
- WANDERING WORDS: books to support health and lifestyle choices plus popular fiction circulated to community groups
- TALL TALES: Creative writing opportunities - tell the stories that interest you in prose, poetry and pictures
- WRITE STUFF: Visits by popular authors to support both reading and creative writing
- TELL ME A STORY: Develop and pass on story telling skills through training courses and voluntary work in schools and playgroups
- OUR STORY: Work with a local school to bring the recent past alive to another generation
- SHARED STORIES: linking schools and groups/residential homes to read children’s books both past and present; participants will discuss the books, create art and drama inspired by what they have read
- STORY TRAILS: school holiday activities aimed mainly at grandparents and children involving book based craft and writing activities which will be developed into displays in community and countryside locations
