Moving Bury Forward
Bury faces many challenges in relation to Adult Social Care Services – but we believe we can rise to these effectively, with the support of a strong provider sector.
We are committed to the principles contained in the Government’s recent policy document ‘Putting People First’, and we are reshaping our management structures to significantly strengthen strategic commissioning and procurement, and to establish project management capacity for the introduction of Self Directed Support. This will enable us to work with partners (voluntary and independent sector NHS, housing, users, carers etc) more closely and proactively, and to develop strategic commissioning plans for all vulnerable adult groups. It will give us the basis to shape the local market for care, support and other services which promote health and well being, to secure good deal in terms of quality, price and affordability for service users and the people of Bury.
Your role..?
Very few of the changes we need to bring about can be achieved without a strong provider sector operating in Bury. This means having providers who:
- engage with the Council and its partners strategically
- bring innovation, financial acumen, energy and enthusiasm to new or longstanding challenges
- offer capacity and resources to redesign and reshape services in line with users, commissioners and regulators and the Government’s expectations
- who are committed to achieving quality and the outcomes that matter for their service users
- recruit, retain and develop a committed and well trained workforce
- can contribute to the development of Self Directed Support in Bury
If your organisation can bring these attributes, whether you are currently working in Bury or not, we would like to hear from you.
