Providing Information on local childcare, activities and family support services available to children and young people (0 to 19 years and to include disabled young people up to 25 years) their families, carers and those working to support local families, Children & Young People's Information Service, part of the wider Childcare and Extended Services Team, provides a single point of access for information and advice on:

  • Activities for Children and Young People e.g.
    • Sports (Athletics, Boxing, Football, Outdoor Adventure, Rugby, Swimming, etc.)
    • Performing arts (Dance, Drama, Music, etc.)
    • Youth activities 
    • Uniformed organisations (Rainbows, Cubs, Air Cadets, etc.)
    • Holiday activities
    • Under 5's (Parent & Toddler groups, Messy & Physical play sessions, Storytimes)
    • Park and countryside activities
    • Places to visit ..... “Out and About"

Updated and tailor made lists of activities for all ages are produced on demand and before all main holidays in association with many different organisations including Sports Development, Parks and Countryside Rangers, Libraries, Youth Services and many other private, voluntary and independent groups. Let us know about your group, activity or organisation.

The service is open from Monday to Friday from 9.00am to 5.00pm. Outside these hours an answerphone is in operation. We also offer a drop in service during office hours at Link to external websiteHilton House on Irwell Street, Bury. No appointment is necessary however training may occasionally take place on a Wednesday afternoon during which time physical access to the building may not be possible.
