Unfortunately some families will never be able to provide the necessary care and protection for their children, and these children will need a permanent alternative family until they can be independent. Most of these children will be older and will keep some form of on-going contact with members of their birth family.
This kind of fostering calls for a long-term commitment from the foster carer and young people will need the help of the carers to learn the skills they will need for independent living.
There is a great need for permanent carers for older children, teenagers and for two or more older children from the same family so that we do not have to separate brothers and sisters.
