
World Mental Health Day 2008 SUCCESS!!
On Friday 10th October we celebrated World Mental Health Day 2008. In recognition of the day there were a range of activities that took place across the borough of Bury. Please find below a list of all the events:
Information/ advice stall, Millgate Shopping Centre
There was an information/ advice stall on Minden Parade in Bury Millgate shopping centre. As well as having a range of different literature from Pennine Care Trust, Bury Adult Social Care Services and Bury PCT, the stall was staffed with Mental Health professionals who were able to advise, support and provide a questions & answers service for members of the public.
It proved to be a sucess with a high number of people coming to talk to the highly trained staff and making use of the literature which was available.
Official launch of the new Review & Recovery Team, The MET.
The Borough Involvement Group (BIG) in Mental Health group ran a series of events thoughout the day at the MET theatre. Between 10:00am - 12 noon it was the official launch of the new Review and Recovery Service for Pennine Care and Bury Council along with the awareness raising of the importance of Mental Health and well-being.

To allow people to get answers to any of their questions and enquiries, the activities at the MET was closed by a question time where experts were quizzed on current mental health issues.
Coffee morning, CHOICES Parsons Lane.
CHOICES is part of Bury's Mental Health community services and to celebrate they held a coffee morning between the hours of 10:00am - 12 noon for people to drop in to enjoy a cuppa and chat.
START in Bury, Bury Museum & Art gallery.
START in Bury is an art studio project which assists people with mental health issues to develop their creativity, confidence, skills and social horizons through the visual arts and related art forms in an informal community setting. It aims to encourage and empower START members to be involved in all the aspects of running the project.
To celebrate World Mental Health Day 2008, START in Bury held an exhibition at Bury Museum & Art Gallery displaying some of the fantastic art work which was created by members.
Pauline Fletcher, Social Inclusion Manager from Pennine Care Trust said
" The day was a great success, there was high participation at all the events accross the Borough and we achieved everything we set out to achieve in relation to raising awareness of Mental Health Issues."
