Report Summary:
Valuing People 2001 established the national policy framework and direction for Learning Disability services, and required each area to set up a Partnership Board to drive change.
A refresh of the national policy is currently underway, led by the Department of Health. However, this is likely to reassert the importance of Learning Disability Partnership Boards as the local multi-stakeholder vehicles for delivering Valuing People.
It is therefore timely that Bury has re-established its Learning Disability Partnership Board, has revised its Terms of Reference (Appendix 1) and its work plan (Appendix 2) , in addition to producing an Easy Read Mandate (Appendix 3) for the year and these are all presented for Council approval.
