The aim of the team is as follows:
To raise awareness of the educational and social needs of pupils with autistic spectrum, social communication and speech and language difficulties and to support schools, pupils, families and other agencies in meeting those needs.
The role of the team is as follows:
To assist in the identification of pupils with autistic spectrum, social communication, or speech language difficulties.
To liaise with a wide range of relevant services to meet the needs of this group of pupils, their families and schools.
To advise families, schools and other agencies in finding relevant and up to date information and training, where appropriate, to meet the needs of the pupils.
To provide written advice regarding the needs of the pupils to the Local Authority and to assist parents, schools, early years settings and other agencies as appropriate.

To run training days, school inset and workshops for families to assist them in meeting the needs of the pupils.
To coordinate the Befriending Service, including recruiting and training volunteers.
To advise families and schools with regard to further services and opportunities that may be available to them.
