Look after your local park
We need Volunteer Park Rangers towork with our Urban Park Rangers on a wide range of tasks including patrols, minor green-space improvements, organising and running events, starting gardening clubs and all sorts of activities connected with parks. The role of volunteer is open to a wide range of ages. All volunteers will need to be able to commit to a basic number of duties and will undergo a short induction course to familiarise themselves with the Park Ranger service.

Look after your local countryside
We need Voluntary Countryside Rangers to work across the Boroughs of Bury, Bolton and Salford, working closely alongside our Countryside Rangers to improve, conserve and
promote countryside areas. This role is open to anyone aged over 18 years and all we ask is for a minimum commitment of one taskday a month.

Make a difference to your environment
Every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, BTCV (the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers) offer the chance to join in conservation tasks, generally in Bury.
BTCV provide trained leaders, first aid cover, transport between pick up points and the site, all equipment, tools and protective clothing and hot drinks. If you’re very keen you could become

Be a National Cycle Network Ranger
The co-ordinators of the development of the National Cycle Network, the charity Sustrans, have a Path Ranger programme. Rangers look after a section of cycle route near their home.
