Will you take the Bury street care pledge?
Our Waste Management Service is launching this new initiative which compliments the already well-established Bury in Bloom campaign, aims to develop community pride and could ultimately involve the whole community in helping to keep Bury clean, tidy and litter-free.
Bury street care pledge is all about looking after our environment, reducing litter and promoting recycling as well as making Bury a cleaner, safer, greener place for all who live here, work here and visit the Borough.
Who can take the Bury street care pledge?
You can commit to taking the Bury street care pledge if you are:
- a resident in Bury;
- a school in Bury; or
- a business in Bury.
What do I commit to if I take the Bury street care pledge?
In general terms:
Residents will commit to keeping the land around their home clean, tidy and litter free.
Schools will commit to educating pupils to look after their environment now and in the future as well as keeping the land around their school clean, tidy and litter free.
Businesses will commit to ensuring that any waste they produce is handled safely and in accordance with the law, they will promote responsible disposal of litter to employees and be a positive example to others.
How do I go about taking the Bury street care pledge?
You can take the pledge online or you can print off the pledge certificate appropriate to you and return it to us.
Residents

Schools
For schools there are three levels of commitment - a bronze pledge, a silver pledge and a gold pledge. Start with bronze and work your way up to the top.

What will I get if I take the pledge?
We will provide you with a street care pledge certificate signed by The Worshipful the Mayor of Bury and a free litter pack which includes a high visibility vest, a draw string bag, protective gloves, a handy hoop for holding open your rubbish bag and your very own litter picker.
Did you know?

Bury Council has seven area-based street care teams covering Ramsbottom & Tottington, Bury West, Bury East, Bury town centre, Radcliffe, Whitefield/Unsworth and Prestwich. These teams are committed to creating a clean and safe environment for the people of Bury. However, during last year alone 3,639.77 tonnes of litter had to be collected from your streets - quite an accomplishment! So, please help us to help you. Be responsible and take the Bury street care pledge.
