Flyposting is the display of advertisements on land or premises without the consent of the owner or occupier. The posters are often fixed to empty properties, telegraph poles, telephone boxes and other street furniture. Flyposting is a common offence as it provides cheap advertising often in prime urban sites and is used by pop bands, nightclubs, record companies, events organisers and local businesses.
Flyposting is illegal and anti-social. It is unsightly and causes damage to properties. Flyposting creates an environment that looks uncared for and has a negative effect on residents and visitors perception of safety and crime.
Flyposting has been identified as one of the major environmental crimes along with litter, flytipping and graffiti which need to be tackled in order to reassure the people of Bury that we are working towards a Cleaner, Safer and Greener borough.
