Rubbish collection - how we provide the service
The Refuse Collection Service is responsible for the collection and disposal of waste which is generated throughout the Bury Metropolitan Borough area. Each week we collect from over 80,000 homes and approximately 1,500 businesses throughout the Borough.
The Service provides:
- A 240 litre wheeled bin, or equivalent, to each home.
- A weekly collection from Tuesday to Friday on a regular collection day. We will inform you if we plan any changes to your regular weekly collection.
- A kerbside recycling collection service for paper and card Borough wide.
- A garden waste service to over two thirds of the Borough, and almost all households on a multi material recycling collection service.
- A chargeable bulky household waste collection service.
- Commercial waste collection.
- 12 cubic metre skips available to businesses only for long term hire (six months or more).
- Recycling sites.
