Recycling and reducing waste

Did you know... over 60% of your rubbish can be recycled?

Welcome to the world of recycling!

We are all aware of the ever increasing pressures on the Earth's resources, and the need to reduce waste and pollution.  The drive to recycle is all the greater now that the Government has set specific targets for the amounts of recycling required.

As the availability of appropriate landfill sites is reducing we need to find other ways of disposing of our rubbish.  Recycling conserves raw materials, saves energy and reduces pollution as well as cutting down on the amount of waste sent to landfill.

Local Authorities are required to pay for the disposal of household rubbish and the cost of providing this service is included within Council tax bills.

We need your help to reduce the amount of material we send for disposal.

The aim of Bury Metro's Recycling Team is to encourage residents and the local community to reduce waste and recycle rubbish wherever possible.

You can do your bit

Bury Concil's Recycling Team is urging everyone to recycle in order to conserve precious energy and resources.   We a range of recycling services aimed at reducing the amount of waste we send to landfill and our aim is to make recycling as easy and convenient as possible to enable as many people as possible to recycle their waste.
