How can I request a new wheelie bin?
If your wheelie bin is damaged or stolen, or if you move into a new property, the Council will provide you with a new bin free of charge. There are two sizes of wheelie bin, a 120 litre and 240 litre. These can be exchanged to suit yourself at no extra charge. Contact

Can I have a second wheelie bin?
The Council will provide a second wheelie bin free of charge, providing at least 6 people permanently live at the property. Proof is required, for example, Family Allowance Book, Medical Cards, bill heads, etc
How much waste will the new bin hold?
Approximately 4 plastic sacks.
What happens if my bin isn't emptied?

What happens if I have more waste?
Extra waste is the responsibility of the householder. Bury Council only empty the wheelie bin. Bags left at the side or on top of the bin will not be collected.
Where can I take my extra waste?
There are 3 Civic Amenity sites situated in Bury at Every Street, Bury, Cemetery Road, Radcliffe and Clifton Road, Prestwich.
Opening times 8 am to 8 pm 7 days a week in Summer, 8 am to 6 pm in Winter.
What if I am physically unable to put my bin out?
We can arrange to assist you by pulling out your bin and returning it back to its location.

Who is responsible for the bin?
Each householder is responsible for ensuring that the bin is out for collection by 7 am on the collection day and also for taking the bin back in after collection. However, the bin remains the property of the Council.
Can I put garden waste into the grey/green bin?
If you have a weekly collection of refuse only, yes.
If you live in an area where the brown bin scheme operates for the collection of garden waste, no.
Do the council provide compost bins, water butts, etc?
