Newlands is programme of work to improve a selection of derelict or neglected sites throughout the Mersey Belt. It is managed by the Forestry Commission and funded mainly by the North West Development Agency.
LIVIA is one project in the Newlands programme and is focussed on a collection of sites on the Salford side of the Irwell in the Clifton area. However, the Forestry Commission have leased the former Prestwich Sewage Works on the Bury bank and are negotiating to lease Waterdale and Drinkwater Park.
